“Rob’s compositions for the film “Our Mockingbird” and several American Experience films were exceptional. His musical skills are varied and many, and he is a pleasure to work with, often doing more than he’s asked, anticipating problems before they arise.”

Touchdown Israel! Recording Sessions

Recording strings for Touchdown Israel and IFFBoston

Violinists Omar Chen Guey, Olga Patramanska-Bell, violist Drew Ricciardi and cellist Ashima Scripp were holding it down for a lengthy quartet session at Q Division studios back in April. I was recording several pieces for a Touchdown Israel! soundtrack album, as well as music for this year’s Independent Film Festival of Boston screening opener. The players were fantastic, working their butts off to get through a lot of material.

Here we have ethnic string specialist Beth Bahia Cohen playing yayli tambur on “Welcome Sabres” and “Grace,” as well as klezmer and middle eastern fiddle on several other tracks, and Billy Novick playing klezmer and jazz on clarinet and bass clarinet.
