Rob in StudioI am a contemporary composer whose passion lies in helping tell stories.

You can hear my music and/or orchestrations in over 15 productions for PBS, including feature films and episodes of American Experience and American Masters. Films I’ve scored include the feature documentary Touchdown Israel!, which has played at over 15 film festivals including the Sarasota Film Festival and the San Francisco, Los Angeles and Boston Jewish Film Festivals, The Way Home: Tibet in Exile, about three generations of Tibetan women confronting the future of their culture, the neo-noir thriller Aim, Point, Shoot, and the award-winning short “Morocco to Israel,” about a family of Berber Jews’ migration to Israel in the 1950s. I’ve also scored commercials for Nationwide Insurance and the Independent Film Festival of Boston.

I also very much love composing for dance, and have collaborated with the Urbanity Dance company (Best of Boston, 2015) on performances for the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum and for the company’s event, Observing, as well as for their “test kitchen” classes.

I have also served as audio director, composer, sound designer and audio programmer for Lantana Games’ Children of Liberty, created sound design and recorded dialog for Earlplay, Inc., and am currently working on the sound for a virtual reality game.

Since 2008 I’ve had the good fortune to work as an orchestrator and assistant to veteran award-winning composer John Kusiak, with whom I’ve had the opportunity to work on a variety of independent films, documentaries, television commercials and museum pieces.

I am a graduate in film scoring and jazz piano from Berklee College of Music (Magna Cum Laude), and have studied classical composition at Longy School of Music and through private study. I also have a BS in Physics from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and previously served as a Principal Software Engineer and Technology Lead for over fifteen years.
