This year’s Independent Film Festival of Boston trailer featured Cam-e-o the robot’s IFFBoston adventure. (Cam-e-o itself was created by legendary steel sculptor of friendly robots, Skunkadelia. Skunk also designs the festival’s awards.)

Filmmaker Larry Anderson and I collaborated on a song for the trailer this year, and I performed the distorted, semi-robotic, semi-sarcastic Fred Schneider-ish spoken word ‘We Didn’t Start the Fire’-like lyric built from film and festival related terms.

On the film front, two stand outs for me this year were Lulu Wang’s The Farewell, a comedy/drama about cultural incongruencies between a young Americanized Chinese woman (Awkwafina) and her family while dealing with the terminal diagnosis of the matriarch back in China; and Lynn Shelton’s, Sword of Trust, a dark comedy about Civil War memorabilia and conspiracy theorists featuring a top-notch cast of comic actors including Marc Maron, Jillian Bell and the under-known, under appreciated Michaela Watkins.

For those that asked, here are the lyrics to the trailer . . .
